Gold Next Week Strategy Watch

Markets are closed for the weekend. Based on Friday's Kitco quotes, observe two scenarios for next week: a break below the low and a recovery back into the range.

Today is Saturday, and the main over-the-counter gold markets are closed. This article does not provide an immediate weekend entry price; instead, it uses Friday's last verifiable quotes and intraday range as a historical reference for next week's open. After the weekend, the opening price, spreads, and tradable volume may differ from Friday, so each scenario must first be recalibrated using next week's new quotes on this platform.

Origin of the Reference Quotes and Zones

The Kitco spot gold page showed that at 21:32 EDT on October 30, which is 09:32 Beijing time on October 31, the bid was USD 3,874.40 per ounce and the ask was USD 3,876.40, down USD 146.10, or about 3.63%, from the previous reference on the page; the range listed on the Friday page was USD 3,869.30 to USD 4,027.30. The page still displays Friday's quotes over the weekend, not live prices generated by continuous trading on October 31. It is also not an executable XAUUSD price from EBC or any other broker.

Friday's low of USD 3,869.30 is about USD 5 away from the last bid of USD 3,874.40, so USD 3,869 to USD 3,877 can serve as a lower observation band; the upper level of USD 4,027.30 is the same page's Friday high, not a target that will necessarily be reached next week. There is no verified hourly closing sequence in between, so these two endpoints cannot be directly drawn as precise, permanently valid support and resistance.

Scenario One: Next Week Continues to Break Below Friday's Low

If, after the market reopens next week, traders first confirm that spreads on their own platform have returned to normal, then observe whether the price is below the corresponding platform's Friday low. A brief spike at the open alone is not enough; if multiple subsequent closes on the same timeframe remain below the low and rebounds fail to recover it, there is more basis for interpreting continued weakness. At that time, also observe whether the US dollar, US Treasury yields, and macroeconomic news are consistent with it. If gold quickly returns to the original range and stabilizes, the assumption of a continued breakdown is invalidated, and one must not keep moving the stop loss upward while insisting on the old judgment.

Scenario Two: Recovery Back Into the Original Range After a Drop

If there is no further new low after the weekend and the price instead reclaims Friday's lower band and forms successively higher lows, this can be viewed as an early clue of post-drop repair. However, a rebound from around USD 3,870 is still far from the historical high of USD 4,027, so a short-term rebound cannot be directly written as a full trend reversal. If the price breaks below the low again and stays there, the repair scenario is invalidated. When judging, it is preferable to use closing prices from the same platform and the same timeframe, and not to mix Kitco bid prices with platform ask prices.

Events to Review Next Week

The US Bureau of Labor Statistics' third-quarter Employment Cost Index released on October 30 showed that total compensation costs for private industry employees rose 0.8% quarter over quarter and 3.4% year over year. The US Bureau of Economic Analysis previously reported that the initial estimate of third-quarter real GDP grew at an annualized rate of 3.4%, and the September PCE price index rose 3.6% year over year. These are already published data, but gold's movement next week still cannot be determined by any single one of these figures alone. The Bureau of Labor Statistics schedule also lists that the September Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey is scheduled for release at 10:00 US Eastern Time on November 3; the United States enters standard time next week, so Beijing time must be recalculated.

Opening gaps, insufficient liquidity, and slippage may all prevent preset stop losses from executing at the planned price. The above ranges and two paths are for review and educational purposes and do not constitute definitive buy or sell advice; leveraged trading can rapidly amplify losses.
