October 24 Gold Weekend Review: Next Week's Watch After Friday's Pullback

Today is Saturday, and the major gold trading markets are in their weekend closure phase. This is not a "Saturday real-time market morning report"; rather, it places Kitco's last verifiable quote from Friday alongside the multiple time points retained on the website this week to sort out the questions that should be re-verified next week. Different news websites and brokers may have different closed-market quotes and opening times; do not treat the numbers still displayed on Friday's page as Saturday's tradable XAUUSD price.

Friday's Last Available Quote

Kitco's spot gold page currently still shows New York, October 23, 21:01 EDT, corresponding to Beijing time October 24, 09:01, with a bid of 3994.90 and an ask of 3996.90 USD per troy ounce. The page also says "as of" New York 21:00, a one-minute difference between the two times. The quote day range it displays is 3975.10 to 4040.20 USD; this is the source's quote window for that day, not a consistent high and low across all platforms. Because it is currently the weekend, this article only calls it the last available informational quote, not a Saturday real-time price or a tradable price.

On Friday, the same-source bid verified at 09:59 was 3991.10, at 20:59 it was 4024.30, and the last available quote above was 3994.90. From the evening to the last available time point, it was 29.40 USD lower, and the last available quote was 3.80 USD higher than Friday morning's snapshot. These three discrete quotes show a timing difference of first rebounding and then pulling back, but they cannot replace a complete intraday chart, nor are they sufficient to calculate a weekly gain or loss from a unified open to close.

Based on This Week's Content, Which Judgments Need to Be Withdrawn

Thursday's strategy observation, based on the then-high quotes, listed 4060 to 4070 and 4080 to 4090 as candidate zones. By Friday morning, the same-source bid had fallen to 3991.10, and these old zones were no longer suitable as immediately usable support bands. Friday's strategy therefore did not hard-draw new precise levels, but required rebuilding swing highs and lows on completed cycles on a unified platform. This handling is especially important on weekends: during market closure there are no normal continuous tradable candles, and one cannot pre-lock Monday's entry position based on an old quote.

The 4024.30 at 20:59 on Friday showed that a rebound had occurred, after which the last available snapshot returned to around 3994.90. It reminds us that a short-term bounce is not equivalent to a trend reversal. To discuss repair, one should see higher lows and holding after a retest on the same cycle; to discuss continued decline, one must also verify new lows after the open and whether prices are quickly recovered. Choosing only the one quote that favors one's own view easily turns a review into an after-the-fact story.

The Most Important Schedule to Prepare for Next Week

The meeting schedule published by the U.S. Federal Reserve lists the Federal Open Market Committee meeting on October 27-28. At the time of writing, the meeting has not yet been held, and no interest rate decision, statement wording, or market reaction can be written in advance as a result. Before the meeting, watch for any adjustments to the official schedule and record the respective times of the dollar, Treasury yields, and gold quotes; after the meeting, distinguish policy facts from the market's interpretation of the future path. News and gold prices changing at the same time does not automatically prove a single causality.

In addition to the meeting, liquidity and spreads after Monday's open also need to be checked. New information that may accumulate over the weekend will be reflected in a concentrated way at the open, and the last available bid and ask on an informational page do not mean one's own platform can execute at the same price. For readers who need to control risk, first check the platform's trading hours, instrument specifications, margin, and order types, and then decide whether conditions allow executing the original plan.

Two Scenarios, Two Invalidation Conditions

Repair scenario: after next week's open, prices on one's own platform's completed cycles steadily form higher lows and can surpass the local high re-formed in Friday's later session; if prices quickly fall back into the original consolidation zone, the repair judgment is invalidated. Continued-weakness scenario: the area near Friday's last available quote cannot hold, and after the open there is an effective break below the new swing low; if prices quickly reclaim that low and continuously make higher highs, the continued-decline judgment should also be downweighted. There are no preset specific trading prices here, because weekend quotes cannot be used to verify Monday's real-time structure.

Retain this week's sources, quote times, bid and ask prices, and platform differences, and update the charts after the market reopens. This article is a weekend review and a framework for next week's observation, and does not constitute a definitive call or a guarantee of returns. Leveraged trading may cause substantial losses.
