Sunday Evening Gold Outlook: Opening Gaps and Fed Week—What to Watch First?
As of 21:00 Beijing time on October 25, the gold market is closed for the weekend. Next week, first verify opening quotes and gaps, then watch the Fed meeting and U.S. labor cost data, distinguishing scenarios from facts.

Today is Sunday, and common spot gold trading platforms are still in the weekend closure period. At this moment, we cannot write "today's close rose" or treat Friday's last quote as the real-time price at 21:00. Rather than inventing levels for an opening that has not happened, it is better to clearly write the three things that truly need verification next week: whether the first quotes after reopening have gaps, whether the Asian session can maintain direction, and how expectations change around the Fed meeting on October 27–28. The following is an outlook as of publication, not a market result that has already occurred.
Sunday Evening: First Leave the "Unknown" as Unknown
When the market is closed on weekends, news, exchange-rate expectations, and risk appetite may still change, but different brokers' requoting times and spreads are not necessarily consistent. Therefore, support and resistance on Friday's chart can only be historical references. When analysis actually begins, record on your own platform the opening time, Bid and Ask, the first tradable spread, the first-hour high and low, and whether there is an obvious weekend gap. Without these data, do not directly treat a line on a static chart as a strategy that can be executed at the original price.
If the opening is above the last visible price range from Friday, first observe whether the gap will be filled and whether the push can stay outside the range; if the opening falls within the range, first check whether it is still consolidation; if it gaps down, also distinguish temporary liquidity shortage from sustained selling pressure. These three are only conditional branches; none can be assumed to have already occurred. When spreads widen in the early opening period, there may also be a clear difference between chart breakouts and actual execution.
What Published Timetables Are There Next Week
The Fed's official calendar lists the October FOMC meeting as October 27–28 U.S. local time, with the meeting result released at 14:00 U.S. Eastern Time on the 28th and a press conference scheduled at 14:30. Converted according to the daylight saving time in that calendar, these are approximately 02:00 and 02:30 Beijing time on the 29th; near release, still reconfirm with the official page and platform calendar. The meeting result and wording have not yet occurred and cannot be written in advance as "rate hike," "rate cut," or "hold steady."
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics' October release schedule also lists: regional employment and unemployment data at 10:00 U.S. Eastern Time on the 28th, and the third-quarter Employment Cost Index at 08:30 on the 30th. These correspond to approximately 22:00 Beijing time on the 28th and 20:30 Beijing time on the 30th. Schedules may be adjusted, and released values cannot be guessed in advance. Compared with data titles, what is more worth comparing is the released value, the market's prior expectation, and the actual reaction of the U.S. dollar and Treasury yields at the time; even if the direction is opposite, a single piece of news cannot be used after the fact to draw conclusions about all gold price fluctuations.
How Should Bullish and Bearish Divergence Be Tested?
Bullish explanations usually focus on weakening real interest rate expectations, safe-haven demand, or a technical rebound; bearish explanations may emphasize a rebound in the dollar and yields, or profit-taking after earlier gains. These are analytical perspectives, not confirmed causes of the day. For next week, first compare the price structure after the open, then observe whether new highs and lows appear before and after key events; this avoids selecting only evidence that supports one's own view.
If price maintains a set of higher lows after the open while breaking above the pre-recorded upper edge of the range, the bullish scenario gains more support; but if it quickly returns to the original range, the breakout interpretation should be downgraded. If price continues to form lower highs and breaks below the lower edge of the range, the bearish scenario has more basis; if it quickly recovers into the range, the sustained decline judgment should also be withdrawn. Specific levels are deliberately not written here because there is no reliable current quote at 21:00 on Sunday; the range must be delineated after the market reopens and the platform and time are verified.
Next-Day Watchlist
On Monday, first record the first valid quotes, spreads, and first-hour range; then see whether the Asian session direction can extend into the European session, and check whether the dollar and Treasury yields move in sync or diverge. During Fed week, also record slippage, order execution differences, and position risk before and after event releases. If this information is missing, you can remain observing; there is no need to write weekend speculation as a definite call just to "catch the market." Any scenario may be invalidated, and controlling risk is more important than guessing one headline correctly.
