Today's focus is whether gold can hold the upward-shifted price range after Monday's rebound. All levels come from a time-stamped Kitco spot gold page and are not tradable XAUUSD quotes from EBC or any other broker. Different platforms have their own bid/ask prices, spreads, and candlestick segmentation, so levels must be re-marked on the platform being used before trading. This article presents two conditional scenarios, breakout and pullback, and does not provide definitive buy or sell instructions.
Quotes and Near-Term Range
The Kitco page at 20:21 New York time on November 2 (U.S. Eastern Standard Time), which is 09:21 Beijing time on November 3, showed a bid of $3,954.10 per ounce and an ask of $3,956.10, with a page range of $3,879.40 to $3,971.00. This is a historical snapshot from about nine minutes earlier and cannot be treated as the live execution price at the time of reading. Compared with yesterday's same-source bid of $3,902.00 at 20:54 Beijing time, the two snapshots differ by $52.10; however, the full path between the two points was not verified tick by tick, so it cannot be described as a one-way rally throughout. There is still a gap between the page high of $3,971.00 and the latest snapshot, indicating that "touching the high" and "holding the high" need to be treated separately.
Based on the upper edge of the page's current range, $3,965 to $3,972 can serve as the upper observation band; based on the area repeatedly judged around the snapshot, $3,950 to $3,957 can serve as the near-term pullback observation band, but this band is mainly based on the bid/ask quotes at that time rather than multiple historical support levels, so the evidence is weaker. The farther $3,879.40 is the page low and should not be used as a near-term stop-loss. The width of these zones is an observation range set to accommodate different refresh times and spread differences, not officially published resistance and support.
Upward Breakout Scenario
If the same quote source subsequently breaks above around $3,971.00 and remains above it after an hourly close, then pulls back without falling below $3,965, the bullish continuation can be considered further validated. If the high is only pierced for a few seconds intraday, the bid/ask spread widens, and price then quickly returns to the original range, the breakout interpretation is invalidated. Even a valid hold above only means this near-term upper edge has been reclaimed; it does not mean the entire prior decline has ended. When observing, record the closing time, the spread, and whether there was an instantaneous move caused by a data release; do not keep only a screenshot of the high.
Pullback or Failed Repair Scenario
If price cannot hold around $3,950 to $3,957 and subsequent hourly closes are continuously below that band, it indicates that the retracement after this upward push is deepening. At that point, look again for intraday swing lows actually formed on the same platform, rather than directly writing Monday's Kitco low of $3,879.40 as today's sole support. If price only briefly dips into the observation band, then recovers and challenges the upper edge again, the weaker interpretation is invalidated. For the downside scenario, also verify whether the bid has genuinely moved lower or whether the screen impression is caused by a spread change.
Tonight's Event Risk
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics schedule has the September Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey released at 10:00 U.S. Eastern Standard Time on November 3, which is 23:00 Beijing time today. At the time of finalizing this article, the data had not yet been released, and the actual result cannot be written in advance. Job openings can affect market views on labor demand and the interest rate path, but gold's reaction also depends on the surprise versus expectations, revisions, and simultaneous changes in the dollar and yields. The Federal Reserve kept the target rate range at 3.75% to 4.00% on October 28 and noted that inflation remains high; this is only published background, not a forecast of tonight's data.
If the evening market clearly moves away from the current range, update the original article with a timestamp and redraw the zones using newly verified quotes, rather than publishing a duplicate strategy separately. Leveraged gold trading is affected by spreads, slippage, and liquidity during data periods, and preset stop-losses may not be filled at the marked price. This article is for observational research only and does not guarantee that any scenario will occur or produce returns.
