November 4 Gold Strategy Watch: After JOLTS, Watch for Range Breakout or Rebound Pullback

Public aggregated quotes are not executable account prices. Use the prior-day high/low and Asian session range from the same platform to build breakout, pullback, and invalidation conditions.

Summary: Today's XAUUSD strategy watch focuses mainly on the volatility after last night's U.S. data release and whether the Asian session can hold steady. Although public aggregated quotes show gold trading above $3,900, no broker quote with Bid and Ask at the same 09:30 moment was obtained, so the delayed midpoint is not treated as an executable price, and precise support/resistance is not fabricated from it. Below are two scenarios—breakout and pullback—that can be verified on your own trading platform.

Quote Basis and Limitations

The XAU Meter page records that at 00:40 UTC on November 4, 2026, which is 08:40 Beijing time, the median XAUUSD midpoint from eight broker data sources was approximately $3,922.49/oz. This is an aggregated midpoint, not the real-time Bid or Ask of any single account; it is also about 50 minutes away from 09:30 in this article. Another public quote page has a different update frequency and quote convention and cannot be mixed in as one continuous candlestick. Please rely on the actual two-way XAUUSD quote, time, and spread displayed in your own account at 09:30. Because same-moment quotes cannot be verified, this article does not provide a so-called "current price" or precise pending-order price.

Recent ranges should also be checked on the same basis. Public quotes on November 3 showed gold rebounding from the intraday low, but different providers give inconsistent highs, lows, and daily rollover times. Using your platform's fixed Beijing time or server time zone, record the November 3 high, low, and structure near the close, then separately record the November 4 Asian session high and low. Only levels from the same platform, same instrument, and same time window are suitable for drawing executable support/resistance zones. When drawing zones, mark repeatedly tested price bands as areas rather than a magic level precise to the decimal point.

Macro Background: Data Released, New Schedule Pending

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics released the September JOLTS report at 10:00 U.S. Eastern Time on November 3: job openings were about 7.50 million, a limited change from the revised August figure of about 7.20 million. Do not look only at the unrevised prior value, and do not equate job openings directly with new jobs. On November 4, the ADP private-sector employment report is still due, and the official ISM schedule has the services PMI at 10:00 U.S. Eastern Time the same day. The United States has entered standard time, so the latter corresponds to 23:00 Beijing time. Election news and data may pull the dollar, Treasury yields, and gold in different directions over short periods; when explaining price action, first distinguish pre-release expectations, released values, and market reaction.

Scenario 1: Can It Hold After a Breakout?

If your platform quote breaks above and closes firmly above the overlapping zone formed by the November 3 rebound high and the November 4 Asian session high, and the subsequent retest does not quickly fall back into the zone, this can be treated as evidence that buyers are again contesting the upper edge. "Closing firmly" here requires a pre-agreed observation period, such as a 15-minute or 1-hour close on the same platform; success cannot be declared after the fact just because price briefly pierced the level. If a false breakout quickly returns into the range and then breaks below the retest low, the breakout scenario is invalidated. At that point, conditions should not be moved because of a prior bullish view.

A breakout does not guarantee trend continuation. Especially near U.S. data, spreads may widen, and a gap may appear between the platform Ask and the Bid line commonly shown on charts. If you plan to use a buy stop order, check the actual trigger quote and the account's minimum pending-order distance to avoid the chart "touching the line" while the fill differs from what was expected. Position size should be derived backward from tolerable loss, not determined by subjective confidence in the breakout pattern.

Scenario 2: How to Confirm a Rebound Pullback

If the Asian session rebound repeatedly fails to exceed the above upper edge on the same platform and then falls back below the Asian session low, this can be treated as preliminary evidence for the pullback scenario. Further observe whether support appears near the November 3 low and whether price quickly recovers after breaking below. If price moves back above the previously blocked zone and forms a higher low, the judgment of "continued pullback" is invalidated. Before same-moment quotes and highs/lows are obtained, no downside targets based on aggregated prices are given.

Pre-Execution Checklist

Record the quote source, price time, and time zone, and confirm whether XAUUSD has an account suffix; check the bid-ask spread, trading sessions, and upcoming data releases. The above zones should be marked by readers on their own platforms and updated as the market changes. If price crosses back and forth within the range, both scenarios may temporarily be invalid. This article is a conditional observation framework, not a definitive trade call; leverage may amplify losses, and no scenario guarantees profit.
