Today is Saturday, and the major gold trading markets are closed. The last available Kitco spot quote verified by this site is marked New York, October 23, 21:01 EDT, corresponding to Beijing time October 24, 09:01, with a bid of 3994.90 and an ask of 3996.90 USD per troy ounce. It is the last available snapshot of the Friday quote, not a real-time tradable XAUUSD price on Saturday. Over the weekend, one cannot issue "current breakout" or "buy now" instructions against a static chart; this article only establishes a revocable observation framework for next week's reopening.
Where the Reference Range Comes From
The quote-day range last displayed on the Kitco page is 3975.10 to 4040.20 USD per troy ounce, with the time window belonging to its New York October 23 quote day. This range can serve as a historical reference before next week's opening, but it is not automatically valid support and resistance. Whether support can form near the low requires seeing a test, hold, or recovery after the new market opens; whether resistance can form near the high requires seeing the reaction after a renewed approach. XAUUSD contracts on different platforms may differ in bid/ask, weekend handling, opening times, spreads, and server time zones, so order prices cannot be copied directly from the Kitco information page.
At 09:59 on Friday, this site recorded a same-source bid of 3991.10; at 20:59 it was 4024.30; the last available quote was 3994.90. The three snapshots show clear intraday back-and-forth movement, but they cannot prove a complete candlestick pattern or volume for each session. The old 4060 to 4090 band drawn on Thursday based on higher prices has been overturned by Friday's lower quotes and cannot be repackaged on Monday as a "inevitable return target." Next week's support and resistance should be rebuilt from the actual chart after the new opening.
Three Checks to Do First After the Open
First, verify when your own broker resumes XAUUSD quotes and whether the spread is abnormal in the early opening period; if the spread is noticeably wider than usual, do not treat the first touch of a certain value as a valid structure. Second, use the same platform and the same timeframe to draw the last verifiable swing high and low from Friday, and save the time the drawing was made to avoid moving the boundaries after the fact. Third, wait for at least one completed observation period and compare whether the high and low of the first opening segment fall within Friday's source range. If a gap or platform repricing occurs, Friday's two ends can only fall back to historical background.
Upward Repair Scenario and Invalidation
If next week's opening price first stabilizes above the last available Friday quote, then forms a higher low in a completed period, and retests the vicinity of Friday's source high of 4040.20, only then discuss whether the repair has continuity. Here, 4040.20 is only Kitco's historical high, not a precise cross-platform execution level, and it is not guaranteed to be reached. If price briefly spikes and then quickly returns to the original range, or if the rebound fails to maintain a higher low, the repair interpretation is revoked. Before future FOMC meetings, any policy speculation cannot replace price verification.
Renewed Pullback Scenario and Invalidation
If, after the new opening, price cannot hold the local low of Friday's last segment and continues to press lower highs and lower lows in the same period, the weaker scenario needs continued tracking. Friday's source low of 3975.10 can serve as historical reference, but one cannot claim "downtrend confirmed" based on a single pierce; closing prices, pullbacks, and quote differences must be tested. If price quickly recovers the broken local low and then forms a higher low, the weaker judgment must also be revoked. Neither scenario requires traders to make a decision in the first minute of the open.
Next Week's Calendar and Risk Boundaries
The Federal Reserve's official calendar lists the Federal Open Market Committee meeting on October 27-28. At this time the meeting has not yet been held, so no decision can be written, and an event that has not occurred cannot be treated as a market cause. After the open, recheck the news calendar, platform spreads, and completed candlesticks, then update the candidate zones; if the market gaps or the source is delayed, prioritize pausing precise level judgments. Leveraged trading can cause major losses, and stop-losses may also be affected by slippage. This article is a weekend research framework and does not constitute a definitive call or a guarantee of returns.
