This article was originally scheduled for publication at 09:30 Beijing time, but the quote used here is timestamped 16:07. Prices seen in the afternoon cannot be presented as morning levels. The following reconstructs the observation framework at that time based solely on the spot gold snapshot labeled by Kitco at 04:07 EDT on October 22 in New York, i.e., 16:07 Beijing time on October 22. By the time readers see this article, the market may have changed; check the latest quote first, then decide whether these conditions still have research value.

Quote and confirmable range

At the above time, the Kitco page body showed a bid of 4085.70 and an ask of 4087.70 USD per troy ounce, with the page's daily quote range at 4066.10 to 4145.30. Compared with yesterday's same-source bid of 4116.30 at 09:30 Beijing time, this is 30.60 USD lower. However, two discrete snapshots cannot reconstruct every rally and dip in between, nor can they alone prove that a trend has been established. In particular, the page's "daily range" changes with the quote date and source convention; the endpoints of two days' ranges must not be mistaken for the same continuous trading session.

Kitco provides a reference spot quote, which is not equal to the executable price of XAUUSD on a trader's brokerage platform. Platform bid/ask prices, spreads, contract sizes, and settlement time zones may differ; chart conditions must be rechecked using the same platform and the same direction of quote. This article does not provide real-time trade calls or fixed return targets.

Where the two candidate observation bands come from

Rounding the low of Kitco's then-current range, 4066.10, forms a lower observation band of 4060 to 4070. This is merely a recording range drawn around a single observed low; lacking evidence of repeated touches and pullbacks, it cannot be called a validated strong support. The area around the 16:07 bid of 4085.70 and ask of 4087.70 is organized into a rebound test band of 4080 to 4090. It is a checking range near the current quote, not a confirmed resistance. The upper end, 4145.30, is only the range high listed on the page, far from the current quote, and cannot be directly written as a short-term target.

Observers may pre-select complete 15-minute closes from the same source, record which band the price is in, whether the spread is abnormal, and whether the next bar continues. This timeframe is used only to standardize the review convention; it does not mean 15 minutes is necessarily more accurate than other timeframes. If the platform's price action differs from Kitco, the bands should be redrawn using the platform's actual prices rather than forcing external numbers to match.

Scenario 1: Look for a pullback after the rebound holds

If the bid on a subsequent complete period crosses above 4090 and a pullback still holds above 4080 to 4090, the rebound scenario gains further evidence. If there is only a brief spike and then a return below 4080, the claim of "holding" should be withdrawn. Even if it holds, this only shows that the current weakness has eased somewhat; without more high/low evidence, it should not be written as a trend reversal.

If the price probes lower again and breaks below 4066.10, the earlier interpretation of a recovery around the low is invalidated. Do not keep lowering so-called support just to preserve a bullish conclusion. Each update should mark the new quote source and time; for the same day, the strategy should only revise the original article, not publish a duplicate article.

Scenario 2: Check the retest after the low is lost

If the same-source price breaks below 4066.10, first check whether it is a complete period under normal spreads rather than a single anomalous quote. Then, if a retest still cannot re-enter the 4060 to 4070 band and remains below it, the low-breakdown scenario gains more support. If the price quickly recovers above 4070 and holds, the interpretation of a single downward break should be given less weight, and "effective breakdown" should no longer be used as a premise.

At present, no continuous structure has been verified on which to draw lower support, and there is no real volume data; do not fabricate downside targets or a "high-volume breakout." Predefined risk boundaries, position sizing, and actual execution deviations are more important than picking a nice line after the fact. If volatility or spreads expand next, waiting for new data and stable quotes is also a reasonable research state. Leveraged trading can cause significant losses; the above is scenario observation and does not constitute trading instructions.
