October 11 Next Week Gold Strategy: After the Opening Gap, Is the Old Range Still Usable?
Distinguish between opening within range, above, and below; continue using dated historical references, and after obtaining new quotes, re-examine continuation or pullback conditions.

Today is Sunday, and regular gold trading is in the weekend session. This article does not provide executable immediate levels; the focus is on how to judge at next week's opening whether the old range still has reference value. Without new reliable quotes, continue to retain the conditional framework and do not fabricate support, resistance, or a definite direction.
Old materials are for reference only; first retain the date
The Kitco page body recorded yesterday was timestamped October 9, 21:29 EDT, which is October 10, 09:29 Beijing time, with a bid of 4193.60 and an ask of 4195.60 USD/oz, showing a range of 4130.10—4208.10. This article uses this saved material, not a new trade today, nor an independently verified weekly close.
Spreads, bid/ask sides, and server times for XAUUSD may differ across platforms. At the opening, new quotes and specific platform status are needed; weekend labels cannot be used as proof that a new market move has already appeared.
The opening position determines whether the old framework is usable
Yesterday's two observation zones, 4205—4210 and 4130—4135, came from the edges of the displayed range; 4165—4170 is the historical reference from Friday's old strategy. They do not automatically become valid support or resistance for next week.
First classify the opening state as still within the old range, gapping above the range, or gapping below the range. The classification should be based on new quotes from the same source. If there is no synchronized material, retain the unknown and do not reconstruct the gap size from a single screenshot.
Scenario 1: Holding above the range and retesting
If the new quote is above the upper end, first check whether that state persists and whether a retest can hold outside the zone. Define the period and confirmation method in advance to avoid the opening spread widening or a single quote being interpreted as a trend breakout.
The invalidation condition for this continuation assumption is: sustained return below 4205—4210, with subsequent recovery failing. If the opening is already far from the reference levels, whether the old zone is suitable for study needs to be reassessed, and farther targets should not be guessed on that basis.
Scenario 2: Return into the range with support or failure
If the opening is still within the old range, observe the reaction when price pulls back toward the historical reference 4165—4170 and the lower end 4130—4135. A touch is only the start of observation and cannot be written as a buy at the level. Support requires subsequent recovery and evidence of persistence.
If price continues through the relevant zone, the retest cannot recover, and lows continue to move lower, then the support assumption is invalidated. If the new quote gaps directly below the lower end, even less should the old low be assumed to necessarily stop the decline; first establish new materials and conditions.
After a gap, do not rush to confirm the cause
Weekend news, opening liquidity, and quote differences may be discussed by the market, but this article has not verified enough new information to explain an opening that has not yet occurred. First record the actual changes, then check the relevant materials, and do not assert in advance that a certain piece of news must lead to a certain price.
If different sources are inconsistent, record their respective times and definitions, and do not average them and call it the true traded price. Research zones are also not equal to risk amounts or stop-loss prices that guarantee execution; platform execution conditions need to be checked separately.
Updating and pausing are both part of the framework
After the opening, add new sources, times, and quotes, and check whether the original conditions are met. If neither scenario has evidence, judgment can be paused. If the state changes significantly, note the update time and reason for revision in the original strategy, and do not use repeated articles to obscure the changes.
Separately verify positions, pending orders, and fees; a market closure does not mean account risk has ended. Leveraged trading may cause major losses. This article is for research and education, does not constitute a buy or sell instruction, and does not promise returns.
