November 1 Gold Next-Week Strategy Watch: Opening Gap, Low Break and Recovery

Markets are closed on Sunday, so no live XAUUSD quote is available. Using Kitco's Friday historical snapshot, set two conditional scenarios—low break and recovery—and state the invalidation conditions.

Today is Sunday, and major over-the-counter gold markets are closed, so no live XAUUSD transaction quote with normal liquidity can be obtained for the day. This article is a conditional observation ahead of next week's open and does not provide a Sunday "current-price order." Compared with yesterday's strategy watch, this time the opening gap at the start of the week, the two reference zones left after Friday's volatility, and the market invalidation conditions are placed in the same checklist. Readers must verify contract specifications and actual bid/ask prices on their own trading platform.

Where the reference prices come from

Kitco's public spot gold page showed a bid of USD 3,874.40 per ounce and an ask of USD 3,876.40 at 17:00 New York time on October 30, and listed a Friday low of USD 3,869.30 and a high of USD 4,027.30; this was October 30 in U.S. Eastern Daylight Time, equivalent to 05:00 Beijing time on October 31. The website earlier observed a bid of USD 3,948.50 and an ask of USD 3,950.50 at 09:02 New York time on Friday. Timestamps in different modules of the Kitco page may differ, and these figures can only be treated as historical snapshots, not as the latest Sunday market. XAUUSD contract quotes and spreads from EBC and other brokers may not match Kitco, so the following ranges must be re-marked on the target platform.

Based on the same source's Friday low of USD 3,869.30 and the 17:00 bid of USD 3,874.40, roughly USD 3,869 to 3,880 can be regarded as a low-level observation band. The upper edge of 3,880 is an approximate boundary for easier observation, not an official support price. An earlier 09:02 bid/ask quote was at USD 3,948.50 to 3,950.50, after which price fell noticeably, so roughly USD 3,948 to 3,951 is used only as a reference band for "whether the previously lost level is recovered," not as a strongly validated resistance. Friday's overall high of USD 4,027.30 is far from the later quotes and should not be mixed with the near-term ranges into the same trading signal.

Scenario 1: Continued pressure after breaking the low

After trading resumes next week, first wait for quotes and spreads to stabilize. If the price on the same platform breaks below its corresponding Friday low and then fails to return above that low for several hours, the interpretation of continued weakness is more fully supported. If only the spread widens at the open, or the bid or ask briefly pierces the level and then quickly returns into the range, this cannot be treated as a valid breakout. The invalidation condition for this scenario is that price reclaims the corresponding low and trades stably, while subsequent lows stop moving lower. If the platform gaps sharply at the start of the week, a new trading range must be identified anew, and Kitco's USD 3,869.30 must not be mechanically used as a stop-loss line.

Scenario 2: Upward repair after recovery from the low

The other path is that after the open, the low is held or quickly recovered, lows gradually rise, and price repairs toward Friday's earlier USD 3,948 to 3,951 reference band. Judging the repair cannot rely on a single sharp rally candle; it should look at whether pullbacks hold and whether the U.S. dollar and Treasury yields create opposing pressure. If price falls back below the platform's corresponding Friday low, the repair interpretation is invalidated. Even if the earlier quote band is reached, it only means part of Friday's decline has been recovered, not that the entire decline has reversed. If spreads suddenly widen around data releases, first wait for quotes to stabilize again, then assess whether the original conditions are still met.

Events and execution boundaries

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics schedule shows that the September job openings report is scheduled for release on November 3 at 10:00 U.S. Eastern Time, and the October employment report is scheduled for release on November 6 at 08:30. The U.S. Eastern Time enters standard time on November 1, corresponding to 23:00 Beijing time on November 3 and 21:30 Beijing time on November 6, respectively. Data results cannot be written in advance before release; the initial move after release may also run opposite to the subsequent trend. Verify actual values, revisions, and market expectations, then observe whether the U.S. dollar, yields, and gold confirm each other.

At the operational level, this article provides historical price levels and a conditional framework, not definitive buy or sell instructions. Friday lows, opening times, spreads, and executable depth on different platforms may change the effective ranges; simulated accounts and live accounts may also differ in slippage. If a verifiable current quote cannot be obtained from the same platform, remain in observation rather than using a price from three days ago as if it were a live level. Leveraged trading may amplify losses, and this article does not guarantee that any scenario will occur or produce returns.
