October 15 Gold Morning Report: Rebound After CPI Shock, Watch PPI and Manufacturing Survey Tonight

Distinguish overnight decline reports from this morning's rebound snapshot, verify tonight's 20:30 data schedule, and observe whether the repair can hold rather than prematurely declaring a reversal.

Overnight gold was hit by US inflation data, and quotes rebounded again this morning. Today requires handling two things at once: preserving the fact that the market came under pressure after CPI, and checking whether the rebound can hold, rather than using one latest screenshot to overwrite prior changes. Tonight's producer-side prices and manufacturing survey will bring new information, and the results have not yet been released.

Morning Quote: Rebound Snapshot Is Not a Closing Price

The main text of the Kitco spot gold page is marked New York October 14 20:56 EDT, corresponding to Beijing time October 15 08:56, with a bid of 4138.60 and an ask of 4140.60 USD per troy ounce. The time at the top of the page had reached 20:57, a one-minute difference between the two places; this article records according to the price time in the main text.

The source page range was 4072.70—4171.10, which belongs to the page's wording at that time and cannot be directly treated as the complete high and low for the Beijing calendar day. Quotes also do not equal the actual execution price of XAUUSD orders on various platforms; when comparing, the bid/ask sides and spread should be checked.

Overnight Review: Separate the Data Shock from the Subsequent Rebound

A Reuters report on October 14 recorded that spot gold at 13:03 GMT, or Beijing time 21:03, was at 4086.06 USD per ounce, down 1.7% from its reporting baseline. The report linked the pressure to inflation readings and rate hike expectations, and mentioned a stronger dollar and rising US Treasury yields.

This is a specific point in the report, not the final close. It is not the same quote source as this morning's Kitco, and the two cannot be subtracted and packaged into a precise tradable return. What can be confirmed is that the overnight low record and this morning's higher quote coexist, and whether the follow-through holds still needs observation.

Hot Topics and Divergence: Inflation Pressure Does Not Equal a Single Direction

After CPI was released last night, market discussion focused on inflation and rate expectations. The more cautious view focuses on how higher rates may continue to pressure gold; the longer-term view focuses on central bank demand and debt issues. The latter is an analyst judgment in the Reuters report, not newly verified capital inflow today.

These two judgments have different observation horizons, and it is not necessary to immediately choose a single answer. Long-term reasons cannot be directly treated as a guarantee of a short-term rebound, nor can one data reaction be used to assert that gold has permanently lost allocation demand.

Tonight's Schedule: Information Concentrated Around 20:30

The US Bureau of Labor Statistics calendar lists that September PPI is scheduled for release on October 15 at 08:30 US Eastern Time, which is 20:30 Beijing time tonight. The Philadelphia Fed's official calendar also lists that the October manufacturing survey will be released at 08:30 that day.

Reuters also noted that retail sales and other data will be watched today. The items verified and explicitly timed in this article are PPI and the Philadelphia Fed survey; unverified forecast values are not filled into the schedule. Release arrangements may change, and official pages should still be rechecked near the release.

Two Scenarios to Be Verified, Not Treating the Rebound as a Conclusion

If this morning's rebound can hold and tonight's data does not further strengthen tightening expectations, the repair process can continue to be studied; if the rebound is difficult to maintain and the market turns back toward lows, the repair assumption needs to be reviewed. These are conditional observations, not certain trade calls.

The morning page range can only help with positioning; it cannot prove that any level has fixed support or resistance. This article does not derive precise stop-loss, target, or win rate from a single snapshot; specific level analysis should use updated market data.

Today's Recording Focus

Before the data, save quotes from the same source, times, and observation conditions; after the data, distinguish the first round of volatility from subsequent holding, then check whether the original hypothesis still stands. Comparisons among the dollar, yields, and gold should also align time points as much as possible, and the indicator gains reported yesterday should not be treated as immediate changes today.
