Today's gold research focus shifts to tonight's CPI. Overnight materials show the market waiting for inflation information, and the morning quote still needs to be checked to see whether the recovery can hold. The data has not yet been released, so the result cannot be written in advance, nor can a single snapshot be treated as a conclusion about the whole day's trend.

09:00 quote: lower than last night's reference

Kitco marks New York October 13 21:00 EDT, which is Beijing time October 14 09:00; spot gold bid 4154.10, ask 4156.10 USD/oz, with a displayed range of 4146.10—4201.40. This is that source's convention, not the tradable price of XAUUSD on every platform.

Compared with this site's last night 20:53 bid 4180.30 and ask 4182.30, both ends are 26.20 USD lower. The two time points can only show a change in position; they cannot prove a continuous one-way decline in between, nor can they reconstruct the entire market. The page range statistical window and platform quote differences must be checked separately.

Overnight market: waiting for inflation, distinguish news times

Reuters reported on October 13 at 15:26 GMT that spot gold was 4164.70 USD/oz, saying investors were waiting for U.S. inflation data and subsequent policy-related information. This is only a summary of that report's time point, not U.S. dollar index or yield data obtained simultaneously today.

News quotes and the current Kitco material differ in time and convention, so they are not pieced together into a tick-by-tick move, nor is the market explanation in the report directly treated as the sole cause of the current price change. Without independently verified policy speech arrangements, this article does not invent times.

Separate the recovery position from supporting evidence

Yesterday's strategy lower end was around 4150—4155, and the current bid and ask have again come to a similar position. Being near the zone does not mean reliable support has already been established; the evening recovery to around 4180 also cannot guarantee that it will continue to hold today.

For the bullish scenario, watch subsequent follow-through and the position lost during the recovery; for the bearish scenario, watch a sustained break through the zone, a failed retest of the recovery, and lower lows. Specific strategies should be built using new quotes and continuous materials, not by mechanically moving past conditions into orders.

Today's core schedule: CPI at 20:30

The New York Fed official calendar lists the Consumer Price Index for October 14 at 08:30 U.S. Eastern Time, corresponding to Beijing time 20:30. The schedule may be adjusted; confirm again before release. At the time of writing, the result has not yet been obtained, so no actual values or guessed consensus expectations are filled in.

After release, check headline and core, year-on-year and month-on-month, coverage month, and prior revisions. Without a reliable source for expectations and timing, do not write that it clearly exceeded expectations. Different components may lead to different interpretations; do not compress everything into a single bullish or bearish label.

Bull-bear divergence: both information and reaction need observation

If new materials ease concerns about policy tightening and are accompanied by a sustained price recovery, bullish conditions can continue to be studied; if inflation or policy concerns increase and the rebound cannot hold, then watch the bearish scenario. These are hypotheses, not facts that have already occurred.

Data meaning, market explanation, and the gold reaction should be recorded separately. This article has not simultaneously verified the U.S. dollar and Treasury yields, and does not claim that cross-market signals have jointly confirmed a direction. A data headline alone cannot guarantee the next move.

Dense data tomorrow, no conclusions in advance today

The same official calendar lists PPI, retail sales, initial jobless claims, and related manufacturing surveys for October 15 at 08:30 U.S. Eastern Time, corresponding to Beijing time 20:30. The schedule may be adjusted; today only records the future calendar.

When multiple materials are released at the same time, check them item by item to avoid attributing all price fluctuations to one headline. Save the source, price time, and existing order status; for obvious changes, update the day's original strategy and note the reason. Leveraged trading may cause major losses; this article is for research and education, does not constitute a buy or sell instruction, and does not promise returns.
