October 13 Gold Morning Report: Recovery After Pullback Still Needs Verification, Watch Existing Home Sales Tonight
Check the 09:02 spot snapshot and overnight report times, distinguish old-zone recovery conditions, and watch tonight's existing home sales and this week's inflation schedule.

Overnight gold materials still show prices at a lower position after Monday's pullback, with market discussion focused on dollar pressure and this week's inflation schedule. Today two things need to be separated: whether the current quote has shown sustained recovery, and what tonight's demand data actually published. A snapshot is not a complete price path, and no definite buy or sell direction is given based on it.
Morning Quote: Preserve Source and Time
Kitco marked New York October 12 21:02 EDT, which is Beijing time October 13 09:02, with gold spot bid 4160.50, ask 4162.50 USD/oz, and displayed range 4153.50-4218.10. This cites that page's convention, not the actual traded price of XAUUSD on every platform.
Compared with this site's record last night at 20:55 of the same source's bid 4161.90 and ask 4163.90, both ends are 1.40 USD lower. The two positions being close does not mean there was no fluctuation in between, and even less can it be used to conclude that a stable bottom has formed. The range window and the complete intraday path still need separate verification.
Overnight Report: First Distinguish the News Timing
Reuters' report at 11:32 GMT on October 12 recorded spot gold at 4171.18 USD/oz, discussed pressure from a stronger dollar, and noted that the market was waiting for this week's U.S. inflation data. This is material from that report's time, not a dollar index value obtained synchronously today.
The report and the current Kitco snapshot use different times and quote conventions, and cannot be directly mixed into a single tick-by-tick price series. This article has not verified the latest dollar and yield snapshot, nor does it write the report's interpretation as the sole cause of current price changes.
Below the Old Range, Recovery Conditions Still Need Testing
In Monday's strategy, the lower-end observation zone of 4180-4185 is still below the current snapshot. What can be confirmed is the position comparison; it cannot be claimed that every retest recovery has already failed. The original support assumption needs continuous verification, and it does not automatically recover just because price is near the displayed low.
The bullish observation focuses on whether price can form sustained support and recover the lost position; the bearish observation focuses on rebounds failing to recover and lows continuing to move lower. Both require continuous data; a momentary rebound cannot be written as a trend reversal, nor can a single decline be written as inevitable continuation.
Today's Calendar: Existing Home Sales Tonight
The New York Fed official calendar lists existing home sales at 10:00 U.S. Eastern Time on October 13, corresponding to Beijing time 22:00. The schedule may change; verify the source again before publication. At the time of writing, the result has not yet been obtained; no actual value is filled in, and no consensus market expectation is guessed.
After publication, verify the coverage period, prior revisions, and related details, then record the price reaction. Demand data is not the entire input for policy decisions, nor does it directly mean gold must rise or fall. When there is no reliable expectation convention, do not write that it clearly exceeded expectations.
This Week's Inflation: Preserve the Convention First, Then Compare
The calendar lists CPI at 08:30 U.S. Eastern Time on October 14, which is Beijing time 20:30; on October 15 at the same time there are arrangements for PPI, retail sales, and initial jobless claims. Today's discussion is about the future schedule, not actual results that have already occurred.
Headline and core, year-over-year and month-over-month should be compared separately. When multiple pieces of information are released at the same time, not all market fluctuations can be attributed to one headline. If there is no material, keep it unknown; do not fabricate market consensus or policy probabilities.
Today's Recording and Correction Principles
Preserve the source, price time, bid/ask sides, and existing order status, and use consistent conventions later to verify changes. When strategy conditions clearly change, correct the original article for the day and mark the time; do not replace updates with repeated posts.
Separately verify positions, pending orders, fees, and manual or EA operations. Leveraged trading may cause major losses. This article is for research and education, does not constitute a buy or sell instruction, and does not promise returns.
