October 20 Gold Evening Review: Rebound After Lows, Morning Candidate Zone Still Awaits Validation
As of 20:50 Beijing time, the Kitco gold bid price is $4,122.50. Compare the morning report and strategy time points, review the candidate zone conditions, and watch the data still due at 22:00.

As of 20:50 Beijing time, the verified gold reference bid price on this site is slightly lower than in the morning report but higher than the 09:29 strategy observation snapshot. The two comparisons point in different directions, which shows that citing only one time point to describe a "one-way all-day move" would mislead readers. This article is an interim review of the early U.S. session; it is not yet the New York close, and it does not present tonight's 22:00 data, which has not yet been released, as a result.
Three time points: first look at the same quote source
The body of the Kitco spot gold page is marked 08:50 EDT on October 20 in New York, corresponding to 20:50 Beijing time. The bid is $4,122.50 and the ask is $4,124.50 per troy ounce; the page shows the quote's daily range as 4,110.80 to 4,148.00, and marks it as $17.40, or 0.42%, below its own benchmark. The clock at the top of the page is slightly later than the price time in the body; this article uniformly uses 08:50 in the body as the quote cutoff.
Today's 09:01 morning report, from the same source, had a bid of 4,124.40, and the 09:29 strategy observation was 4,115.70. Compared with the morning report, the evening snapshot is $1.90 lower; compared with the strategy time point, it is $6.80 higher. Three discrete quotes cannot reconstruct every move in between, nor can they be used to directly calculate the change for the Beijing-time calendar day. The source's current range belongs to its quote-day display window; the range shown on the page in the morning and the one in the evening are not exactly the same statistical window, so the two sets of endpoints cannot be treated as the same continuous range for comparison.
How far the morning strategy's conditions have been tested by evening
The morning strategy treated the area around 4,115.10 as a 4,110 to 4,120 candidate zone and 4,120 to 4,130 as a rebound test zone. The evening bid of 4,122.50 falls within the rebound test zone, and the source shows a low of 4,110.80, which also entered the lower candidate zone. What can be confirmed here is that the relevant prices were observed; however, we have not verified the full 15-minute candlestick crossing, holding, and pullback process, so we cannot say "support confirmed" or "breakout successful."
If subsequent quotes can remain above 4,120 and gradually move past 4,130, the morning repair scenario will have room for further testing; if prices quickly return to 4,110 to 4,120, especially if they again fall below the area near the source low, the repair interpretation should be given less weight. Conversely, the source's earlier display of 4,110.80 is also not enough on its own to prove that a breakdown persisted, because the evening snapshot is no longer at that low. Invalidation conditions on both sides should be retained, rather than recording only the numbers that fit the original view.
Hot topics and differing views: reporting is not single-cause proof
Reuters reporting during the Asian session that day discussed next week's Federal Reserve interest rate meeting and inflation concerns from higher oil prices; its 08:00 GMT spot gold reference price was $4,123.94. That time corresponds to 16:00 Beijing time, and both the source and the time differ from this site's 20:50 Kitco quote, so the two numbers cannot be treated as continuous candlesticks from the same platform, nor can they be used to prove that oil prices alone caused today's gold price change.
The Federal Reserve website schedule shows that the Federal Open Market Committee meeting will be held on October 27-28. The market can discuss policy scenarios in advance, but the meeting has not yet taken place, and no rate decision can be treated in this article as an established fact. The more cautious interpretation focuses on the pressure that inflation and the rate path put on non-yielding assets; the more positive interpretation focuses on the rebound from lows and future changes in the dollar and yields. These are two conditional branches in research, not verified institutional positioning statistics.
What to watch after tonight
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics calendar lists September state employment and unemployment monthly data as scheduled for release at 10:00 U.S. Eastern time on October 20, or 22:00 Beijing time tonight. At the time of writing, that time has not yet arrived, so no result is filled in, nor is it predicted that the data will necessarily move gold. The same time tomorrow also has third-quarter usual weekly earnings data scheduled; first verify the official release, revisions, and indicator definitions before discussing the actual market reaction.
Keep today's three quote times, bid and ask prices, and sources, and then record whether a new volatility range appears around 22:00. If the subsequent structure has already changed, tomorrow morning's strategy should re-determine the zones rather than continue using candidate zones that have already been invalidated. Actual platform spreads, slippage, and trading-day rollover may also differ from the information page. Leveraged trading can cause significant losses; this interim review is only for reviewing judgments and does not constitute a definitive call or a guarantee of returns.
