October 15 Gold Evening Review: After PPI Release, Repair Still Awaits Further Verification

As of 20:54 Beijing time, distinguish between the gold range snapshot and the released PPI readings, observe the sustainability of the repair, and check the next day's import and export price schedule.

The focus of tonight's observation is whether gold can maintain its repair after the release of producer-side price data. The market data in this article is as of 20:54 Beijing time, which is an early U.S. session record, not the New York close, and does not represent the final gain or loss for the day. Released economic data and price interpretations still awaiting verification need to be read separately.

As of 20:54, gold is still within the range

The main text time on the Kitco spot gold page is 08:54 EDT on October 15 in New York, corresponding to 20:54 Beijing time, with a bid of 4145.40 and an ask of 4147.40 USD per troy ounce. The top of the page has already reached 08:55; this article records according to the main text price time. The range shown by the source is 4099.20 to 4162.80, which is not directly equivalent to the complete high and low for the natural day in Beijing time.

The page gain is marked as 40.90 USD, 1.00%, which is the comparison benchmark of that source, not a return calculated from this website's morning report quote. XAUUSD executable quotes, spreads, and day boundaries may differ across platforms, and reference spot quotes cannot be treated as a unified execution price.

Compared with the morning record, the repair cannot yet be definitively concluded

The Kitco snapshot saved in the morning strategy was a bid of 4148.10 and an ask of 4150.10 at 09:22. The evening snapshot is slightly lower than this morning reference, but there is no complete tick-by-tick path between the two observations, so one cannot fabricate a sequence of rising first and then falling throughout the day based on this.

Tonight's price is still within the current source range. It does not provide direct evidence for "already completely broken out," nor can one declare the repair failed based on a single pullback. The morning candidate area originated from the range at that time; after the data release it should be re-examined, and it cannot be applied as-is while claiming it has already been verified.

Today's hotspot: producer-side inflation data has been released

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics released September PPI at 08:30 local time, 20:30 Beijing time. Final demand prices rose 1.3% month-on-month seasonally adjusted and 6.3% year-on-year unadjusted. The final demand index excluding food, energy, and trade services rose 0.5% month-on-month and 5.0% year-on-year. The two statistical measures must be distinguished, and the specific definition should not be omitted by using only the word "core."

These are officially released readings. This article has not verified the consensus expectation, so it does not use the judgment "far exceeding expectations," nor does it directly convert a high reading into a probability that a certain meeting will necessarily raise rates. PPI describes producer-side prices and cannot replace all consumer inflation and policy information.

Bull-bear divergence: data pressure and price performance do not cancel each other out

One explanation that needs observation is that stronger price pressure may reinforce concerns about interest rate constraints; another explanation focuses on whether gold can still maintain support after the data. What is listed here are research scenarios, not a survey of all traders' positions, nor a verified conclusion about capital flows.

A single data release being close to a price snapshot is not enough to prove that all fluctuations were caused by it. Without simultaneously verifying the dollar, bond yields, and other news, one should not fill in the rises and falls of related variables as facts. Recording what happened first, then discussing possible causes, can reduce after-the-fact narratives.

Next day focus on import and export prices

The BLS calendar lists that on October 16 at 08:30 U.S. Eastern Time, the September import and export price indices are scheduled for release, corresponding to 20:30 Beijing time tomorrow evening. It provides another set of price information, and results not yet released cannot be filled into tonight's review in advance.

Subsequent comparisons must retain the data period, whether seasonally adjusted, and revision status; different price indicators cannot be directly added together. Release schedules may be adjusted, and the official calendar still needs to be checked near the release. This article lists verified items of attention and does not treat it as a complete list of all events for the next day.

Tonight is not over yet; leave room for updates

The focus of the next record is whether the same source range expands, whether the price can maintain its repair, and when the original observation conditions become invalid. If new evidence appears, the update time should be noted and the explanation revised, rather than disguising later results as conclusions already known tonight.
